Christ the King formally organized on Christ the King Sunday, November 20, 1977. A total of 43 members were transferred from Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marquette.
On January 21, 1979, an all-purpose worship building was dedicated. Pastor Robert Knepel was installed on January 22, 1978, and served as a half-time pastor until January of 1982.
Pastor Tim Ott was installed on September 8, 1982 as the first full-time pastor of Christ the King. The congregation was growing steadily and soon had outgrown the small all-purpose building.
Ground was broken for a new sanctuary on May 1, 1988. With the help of Laborers For Christ, and everyone in our congregation, a new sanctuary and additional classrooms were dedicated to the glory of God on October 9, 1988.
The next significant outreach was the formation of a Christian preschool that opened in 1996 with Lois Ott as the director and teacher.
God continued to bless Christ the King in all areas of ministry and soon we were again experiencing a shortage of Sunday School rooms and Fellowship Hall space. A long-range committe spent 5 years developing plans for a Family Life Center, a new Preschool, and more Sunday School rooms. Again with the help of Laborers for Christ, and the tremendous outpouring of help from the congregation, a beautiful Family Life Center was dedicated on October 25, 1998.
In 2006 the decision was made to call Amanda Stacy as our first full-time Director of Christian Education. In addition to children's and family ministry, Amanda is now our Preschool Director and Teacher.
After Pastor Ott's retirement, Pastor DJ Thomsen was installed on March 23 of 2014.
We give thanks and praise to God for His abundant blessings and pray for His continued guidance!
